When I started THE BOARD 4 years ago, the resounding response was, “WTF is it? Do I need it? Should I be on it?”
Truthfully, I wasn’t entirely sure. I just knew I was deeply compelled to create a kind of modern collective—one I'd been ideating on for years, united around the shared vision that we are stronger together. A value system I rarely found in the corporate world.
I was exiting a CEO role, exhausted by toxic internal politics and the rinse-and-repeat nature of executive roles (that, let's be honest, often turn into an HR job). The pandemic had shaken everything loose. Everyone I knew was reevaluating what mattered. More and more peers were leaving long-held roles to work for themselves. Remote work was normalized. Geography no longer mattered. And suddenly, a wave of seasoned talent was flowing into the gig economy.

I saw an opportunity to lean into the breakdown of barriers and build something I’d long believed in: a collective of generous, like-minded thinkers—offering collaborative access to one another, as well as creating a vetted destination for companies seeking seasoned support. No egos. No overhead. No competition. Just real community. Real expertise. And a new model for the future of work.
Now, the launch of ABOVE BOARD marks a meaningful next chapter. It’s a fresh riff on my thesis: stronger together. As our collective grows and the world moves at a dizzying new pace, we feel it’s time to open a space where we can expand our community and tackle a wider variety of topics for even deeper connection.
